I was bored last evening, couldn't sleep so I started surfing the net, mainly looking at gear sites. What surprised me was the number of guys and girls who make a living playing bass that use common nickel roudwound strings. The overriding brand was GHS Boomers with D'Addario XL taking (a distant) second place. I saw a few Ernie Ball and Rotosound users but very, very few DR or other more expensive brands. I know endorsement deals may have something to do with this but, in all fairness, some of the people apparently do not have deals at least according to the GHS site. Having never used Boomers,it makes me wonder if I'm missing something... can you tell I was bored?! |
