Question F strings brakes

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello friends: I just got home my new 7 string bass that I (very proud) drawed my self. Well the thing is that is imposible to tone the 7 string in F. I´ve tryed with diferent sizes 25´28´30´.
I can tone until E and then they broke.I have a standart toned bass B,E,A,D,G,C,F.
Something is wrong cause I feel when I´m coming to the E tone that the tension is to much.

What is happening its a riddle.
I hope someone have some ideas cause the situation is desperate.
Thanks you very much. Ronald Orguast from the beautiful country of Sweden

Try a .018. Conklin uses them on thier basses.

FYI ronald - You can tune a bass and get a good tone. Also your problem may be that cars typically brake with rubber brake pads, and using an F string can make the string break prematurely.

No worries, though. I'm sure my Swedish is vastly worse then your English! Best of luck with your bass problem, and that's a SWEET BASS!
