Fake TI flats (JF344)?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all. Sorry to create a new thread for this, but at $50 a pop I'm a little concerned. I got my first set of TI flats off of ebay. The seller is highly rated, so I wasn't too worried.

The reason I am suspicious is the plastic package is not sealed and the yellow paper slip looks like it was printed on color laser (similar to Kinko's). I can see that the images are not the best resolution for printing.

For all I know this is normal. Can anyone tell me if the real TI packaging is sealed? Thanks.

no, its in a flimsy package and the paper is simply folded to surround the four sleeves.

are the strings used? if they are, then i'd be mad. otherwise i wouldn't. when i bought my ti jazz flats 5 years ago i could have sworn they came in a box. but i could be wrong because i gave them away almost immediately and i'm a little fuzzy. i do remember the printing was a little cheesy, though. but who cares? you don't play the packaging.

brand new from a music reseller on ebay. They seem reputable with a website outside of ebay. I'm cool with cheesy packaging - it gives that warm homespun feel. I'm not cool with ebay fakes.

Last TI Flats I bought came in a cardboard box with plain white paper string sleeves numbered 1 through 5. Red silk on the tuner end of the strings.

as long as ti uses silk in between the windings, nobody is going to bother to fake them

No problem, the packaging is correct. The TI Jazz Rounds are packaged the same way (in flimsy plastic case with a fold of printed paper surrounding the paper string sleeves). That is the way every set of TI Jazz Rounds I've purchased has been packaged and I have purchased them from multiple authorized dealers.

i definately don't play TI packaging --- way too "clangy". it needs to be eq'd wayyyy too much and ends up sounding processed. it never sits right.

I've ordered TI flats from JustStrings.com and they came in a plastic bubble-pack with a label that looked like it was printed on a home printer. I think that's how they are.
