Fatty strings

Been a guitar player for about 7 years but just recently switched over to bass to play in a friends band.

I have a Peavey Millennium, which I actually really like for a cheaper bass. (paid like 250ish I think) Anyway, I've been playing pretty much nonstop for the last 4 months trying to retune my muscle memory in my fingers for the bigger frets and learn as many songs as I can whatnot and the OEM strings are starting to fade a little.

They arent too bad, but they are D'addario's and although i like them for guitar, they dont sound that great on bass IMO so this just gives me an excuse to get new strings. I'm looking for something with a nice, warm, fat tone. We play a wide range of covers from classic rock to more modern things, so versatility is something im looking for.

Most of the songs are regular finger picking, but I'm practicing slap because I've always been a fan of it and I want to get good enough at it to play a little of it on stage.

I dont really like changing strings because my neck never seems to be the same after the switch so i always end up tweeking it a little (kinda anal about the action on my guitars) so i was looking into some flatwounds because of the longer life. Ive heard some sound samples and dig the sound. Can you use flatwound strings for the same applications as round wound? How are they for slap? is there any difference?

Cliffs: Looking for warm, fat tone for all types of music that work well with slap.

Thanks in advance
