There's not many of those passive 60's models out there. I think the vast majority of the basses Chris makes are the update models. My guess is you won't get many responses.

For the Update, it's Hi Beams all the way. I did play a 'Vintage' Celinder a while back... beautiful, mellow, passive woody tone. I believe the owner had Fodera nickels on the bass, and it sounded and felt great... very warm and woody sounding.

I've been considering the Fodera nickels...glad to hear you liked them.

I though the Hi Beams were OK on the passive Celinder, I liked the Sunbeams a little more and may go back to the LoRiders...

Hi,

I like Nickel strings on passive basses, So on my upcomming Celinder Classic I will put DR Sunbeams
The best Nickel strings I know
On my Update I like High Beams, But Galli (Italian) Stainless steels are also very nice

I use "Marcus Miller" Fat Beams? How are they different from regular High Beams? Anyone know?

Chris uses strings which are made to his specs by
DR Strings(yes the same DR stings in NJ).His regular STEELS are pretty much a Hi-Beam string but which also fits his 35" scale fives with through-body stringing.

I asked Chris what he used and he confirmed that DR make a custom string for him and that he is in the process of coming out with his own brand of strings.
He says the closest that you could get would be would be DR High Beams.
