Feedback on the G string!

Sign in to disble this ad
I always wanted to ask this question, but i get feedback from the G string 4th fret all 2 of my bass.

I dunno why it is doing it but every other notes is ok but when i play the B note on the G string 4th fret it is unclear and get feedback so i can't leave the note ringing for too long.

Also i strung my jazz bass using Warwick Stainless Strings and i think they are good strings but it get rough when i slide notes to notes and also it create some really bad finger notes sometimes.

I've got a set of Labella Flats ages ago that i use on my P bass but took them off when i sold my P so i was thinking shell i strung the jazz using these flats. I do play slap bass but i strung my warwick corvette using rotosound so if i want to play slap i can switch to that bass. So was wondering will the flats give me more warm and vintage type of sound than stainless steel on my jazz?

Many basses have a dead spot usually on the G string at about the 4th fret. There's little you can do about it. It will sound kind of thumpy and dead. Some guys call it a wolf tone. Rarely do strings fix the situation. You can buy something called a Fat Finger that helps resolve this issue. It may or may not work for your basses, but may be worth a try.
