It happened to me today.
I haven't used flat wound until today,
I got ROTO 77's high tension 45-105's.
I did not know they were high tension
until I tuned it and the strings ended
up real high and the string relief was
excessive.
I adjusted the truss rod and re-setup
my Squier VM P bass with maple body
and fret board.
I was able to use less string relief and
the strings are almost laying on the finger
board they are so low and still sound great.
This Squier now plays like some of the really
high dollar basses.
I have been playing bass for more than a
quarter of a century, so the change to high
tension was no new thing.
If I had been a beginner, the ROTO 77 high
tension strings would have been frustrating
because I would not have known what to do.
But, once set up,
WOW!!!
