Fender 7150 - first impressions

I felt that my maple board Fender Precision Special sounded a bit too zingy, so I thought I'd give a set of the Pure Nickels a spin. Here's my initial impressions:

1. These strings sound much quieter than any set I've ever tried. Maybe it's the recipe of metals used, but these don't have the volume of any nickel set I've played.

2. These strings have a tighter tension than any rounds I've played. I initially thought that this would suit my ham-handed style, but so far I feel like I'm wrestling with this set.

3. I'm not digging the tone so far. I love the sound of the 7250s, and Lo-Rider nickels are probably my favorites. These have a piano-ish vibe to them, but less growl and character than the Lo-Riders they replaced.

For those that use these regularly, Do my impressions sound off? Will these strings mellow out with use? Or are these just wrong for me?

I put a set on my Jazz Bass hoping it would tone down the zing factor a little, but to no avail. In fact, it made it worse. I have a set of Fender tapewounds (.50-.110) I will try next. After that, I may try a set of TIs.

I use a love them. They have a warm, midrangey, vintage type tone that I love. I did notice that they are a bit quieter though.

They are tied with 7250s as my favorite roundwounds for a P bass. I find they are a lot more mellow already than most rounds.

I like them, good feel and warm. They dont stay bright long and i like that. I dont understand the tension thing thou i thought they were right there with most other nickel rounds that i have used.
They are lower in output and i feel it is due to them being all nickel with no steel core.

45-105, I guess M? They sound much better to me as the initial piano zing has went away. Due to the low output, I took them off my P/J and put them on my backup P which has a hot Reverend pickup - a match made in Heaven! Went back to nickel Lo-Riders on the P/J, their tone and feel is what I've concluded makes them my fave.
