fender 7150 string question (nickle strings)

Sign in to disble this ad
My local stores carry both the old and new packaging of the fender 7150 strings (pure nickel). As much as I love sunbeams these are really great strings. I was wondering if the new strings package (by Daddario) sounds different and if anyone has tried them?

Should i go hoard some of the old ones? Are the new ones worse or better?

Thank you in advance.

These string are my favorite rounds by far. I've played both, and I think there are 3 noticeable differences between the old and new versions:

1) The new ones are not quite as tight as the old ones
2) The low B is better on the new set
and
3) The new ones sound brighter out of the package, but settle in after a little bit

I will and im really enjoying a bargain box set of 7350 that I never would have even tried (new set) better than slinkys and close to (i look around 3 times) sunbeams.

I say grab a bunch of the old ones ~ Super warm when broken in

+1 on the new ones being, or seeming a little less tense
the old ones can get real thumpy after they've been on for a while

I like the Fender pure nickel rounds. IMHO they're as good as the one's that came before, and I liked those too.
