Fender 7150 for string-through body?

Sign in to disble this ad
I remember really liking Fender 7150 strings on my old jazz. I want to try some on my American Deluxe, which is string-through. Does anybody know if these strings work going through the body? In other words, will the silks touch the nut? Are there any other cool pure nickel strings out there that will work with a 34" string through bass?

I would say that since Fender makes those strings, it's more than likely they designed them to work on current Fender basses. I use D'addario XL's myself, but no reason not to use the Fenders if you like them.

I just happen to have a set of 7150M (.045-.105) available to measure.

The distance from the ball (the business side, where it contacts the bridge or ferrule) to the silk is 36 3/8 inches on all the strings.

Hope that helps.

If the silk is in the nut just remove it no big deal.

Well I got the strings and installed them. The silk clears the nut by about 1/4" when strung through the body. i also tune down a half-step so regular tuning would clear the nut even more.

I don't know what it is about these Fender strings I want to dislike them, but to me they really kick butt!

7150's are sweet. I might be going back to them, but im going to give Rotosound 99's a try for a while.

I know what is it.... Fender strings are FANTASTIC! I absolutely love every set I've ever tried! Though I like the nickleplated steel ones better personally.

Fender is the one brand that I never had a problem with in the "being to short" arena. They will fit their string-thru basses with no problem.
