Hi,
I'm a big fan of the Fender 8250M strings. I tried GHS Boomers, Warwick Red / Black / EMP, DR LoRiders Nickel and others, and the 8250M just give me what I want. I sweat a lot, so strings die fast in my hands. Even coated ones... Warwick EMPs last me 2 weeks, and normal nickels 2-4 hours... (if I sweat...) So I usually boil my strings before a gig, as I don't have much money to buy strings on every gig. Fender 8250M sound very good after boiling. Anyway, this is the background story.
The fact is that I have some gigs upcoming, and I want to buy another set, because I have only one set now. Too bad that all stores in my region don't have them in stock, only 7250M... And the online store I use to but from ALSO doesn't have them in stock
The question : Are the 7250s the same strings as the 8250? The 8250 have a taperwound E (and B) and a thicker E .110. Also the 8250 have a roundcore... It's written on the package. But on the 7250 package it's not written anything about the core. I guess it's hexcore (I don't like hexcore, and I think roundcore strings boil and clean much better).
So : Are 7250s Hexcore? Can somebody please look at his 7250s end pins and tell me if they are hexcore?
Thanks !

In my experience, roundcores are much more easy to wash / boil / clean, I guess because there is no place where the dirt settles (in the empty space of the hexcore, under the wrap), and I also like roundcores better...

I guess Fender changed the string gauges and packages very often... I've seen many versions of the 8250M (with .105 and .110 E )

| | | | I have 8250's on my new 08 Standard Jazz bass and I am so far undecided on them. Its difficult to know how I like them as the bass is brand new and I've tried any other strings on this bass. The tapered low E is interesting. I wouls assume that putting a non tapered string on the bass would require the setup to change a bit.
I'm used to playing Slinkys so the feel of the strings is similar but the Fender's feel stiffer as I'm used to a slightly lighter guage. I am looking to try a set of Low Riders that I bought on this bass but am also thinking of maybe trying some flats or even coated strings as I am finding the bass very bright with the stock Fender strings.

I can't find them t the store, they only have the 8250 in stock.
