Fender 7250's

God TB,
Please tell me these strings become waaaaayyyy less twangy after break-in...
Slapped a spare set of these on 'em and it's nothing but metallic zing ( in a bad way)...

Anyone else has experiences with these?

De gustibus...
Wasn't the answer I was looking for, I was asking about their break-in period, oh supporting member of the heavens?

I tried them twice. I really didn't find them to be "zingy" per say, but the thing I didn't care for was how quickly they dulled up. I mean REALLY dulled up quick and it's not like I was playing everyday for hours on end either. (Boy, would that be nice for a change). I was playing every other weekend at church and had very little time in between playing to practice....and my hands don't sweat that much either.

But everyone's differant. Maybe yours will "un-zing" to your liking and will stay that way for a while. Lately I've been using Elixers and I really like them a lot.

Don't worry, they die rather quickly. Just play with dirty and sweaty fingers. That'll kill 'em quick.

I bought 2 sets on the recommendation of this forum and found them to be twangy, noisey, and rough feeling compared to other rounds I have used. I went back to D'addario XL's which are much smoother and punchy sounding. I cant beleive that Fender is putting these on new instruments.

Are these the new, reformulated black label sets? The descriptions I'm reading here are the complete opposite of the tone, feel and longevity of the old sky-blue packaged sets I love.

I was a fan of the original 7250s. As you pointed out, the new ones are twangy with too much zing, and nowhere near the low end the originals had. I now use GHS Pressurewounds as my go-to round.

I loved the old 7250s. Punchy, warm, but nice definition. My goto on my 50's P. But they have changed the formula. When describing your experiences with them, you should indicate if they are the old style or the new ones.

Mine were new. No silk wrap. I think the old ones were wrapped.

Black silks - Red silks - No silks - Fender is calling these all 7250s and any fool can tell they aren't.

What I've found out is that the Indonesian versions that come on the Squiers are pretty good though!

Most times I rip them off a new bass as soon as it hits my room, but on the VM-Jag they are a thing of beauty to hear.

SUPPOSEDLY the 7250s are now by D'A and there was a time when they were Martins or even made in the Ensenada Fender string plant in Mexico - but strong rumor has it that Fender closed that string shop a while back.

Just bought the last 4 sets of the older 7250's at a local shop. They still have some original 7150's left. Too bad they didn't have any 8250's.
Now I have to find a replacement once I go through these. Not before I get some good recordings out of them though.
The Bass Player string review listed the GHS Bass Boomers as a close tone choice. I'll have to try those.

I firmly believe that the ROTO 45RS strings are a perfect replacement for the real OE Fender 7250 NPSs.

You'll get a tremendous amount of consistency in the ROTOs that you won't find in the 7250s, that's fer sure!

Me too. I cleaned out the stores in the Indianapolis area and scored 15 sets of the old 7250's. Should last me a while.

Sky blue with a bass on it. I think they have even older ones on eBay.

Probably older, I worked at sam ash a couple years ago and I've never seen that packaging.
