Fender 8250m vs ???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello All, I have six upcoming gigs this month, and a large festival show to contend with and I am afraid my old fender 8250m bass strings are finally coming to the end of their lives. Unfortunately the new Fender strings just don't feel right to me, maybe the lack of silk wrapping? New manufacturing process? etc. It just feels like the right time now to graduate to something better.

Anyways, what strings are comparable and/or better than the 8250m's. I play surf rock, and also do a lot of jamming and slapping. I don't like a lot of boom, but a more articulated sound. I also like to bend the strings pretty hard.

I don't mind spending some good money on some good strings. I just want some real quality stuff!

DR Hi-Beams sound like they are getting great feedback on these boards. Would this be a good choice?

Might be a good time to try the new EB Cobalts. I like them fine. There as good as advertised, maybe just a tad bright. There's 2 threads on them. Although they haven't replaces my rotos just yet. But they would be a new experience.
