Fender 9050 gauges

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all.

I'm going to put a set of Fender 9050 on my American Fender Precision pretty soon.

I was just wondering what gauges should I buy ? I don't know if I should buy the .050-.100 or .055-.105. What would be the difference in terms of sound ? I like to play some Doors, The Police, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Led Zep ...

Thx for the help.

The gauge doesn't matter for the type of music. It's all about whether you want stiff or real stiff.

Those are going to be my first flatwounds strings, so I don't really know if I want stiff or real stiff lol

I'd go for stiff. I just bought the set that starts at .045 for my parts P copy. That's stiff enough for me.

How's that .095 E, does it still sound/feel good/substantial? How does the tension compare with the MLs (050-100).

Feels fine to me. It feels fairly stiff but puts out a good solid tone. You can feel that it's a smaller string, but there's still plenty of tension compared to a .100.
