Can anyone tell me if the Fender 9050L flatwounds come with silk wraps on the ends like the Fender roundwounds?

no they dont. i have them on my Squier VM Jazz and LOVE them, been giggin' on em for over a year now .

..and i dig the absence of the wrap also, i think it cleans up the overall look of the instrument alot

Thanks for the replies. I was on the fence between the Fenders and the Chromes. I watched the guy on youtube comparing flatwounds on his P bass and I like the sound of the Fenders best. I had a set of Roto monel flats on my VM fretless and they had so much tension they bowed the neck and felt like bridge cables.

Same happened to me with the Rotos standard gauge, so when I bought the Fenders I bought their lightest gauge, which is still quite chunky at 45-95.

I would guess the Fenders in the same gauge as the Rotos will be just as bad or very similar tension wise, so unless I'm completely wrong it may be worth going for a lighter gauge (they arent really that light anyway). Even with the light gauge there is a fair bit of tension, and it put a bow in my neck, which needed correcting.

Hope this helps

I bought some 45-100 Chromes today since my local music store only had roundwound Fenders.

I love these strings. The tension feels similar to Roto swingbass 66 rounds. Not heavy at all. They bring out the warm jazz growl in my bass that sends willys down my spine. The only issue was getting the E string through the badass II bridge as I had to unravel half the silk off and still had to work it through.
