Fender 9050M flats with thru body bridge?

Sign in to disble this ad
I know that La Bella prohibits the use of their Jameson deep talkin' bass strings in the thru body bridge application because of their really heavy gauge/super stiff core. Does the same go for all heavy gauge flatwound strings? I'm looking to get a set or two of the Fender 9050M flatwounds 55-105 for my jazz bass (thru body bridge) and G&L sb2.

Has anyone had any experience w/ putting the 55-105 set of fender flats on a bass w/ a string thru body bridge?

Yes 9050Ms work fine, as do the ML and L versions. I've used them and Chromes on STB basses for years.

Do you have to go through the body? I have a Jazz Bass, and just string it through the bridge. Have never noticed any difference in sound at all between the two, through body or through bridge.

The top load/string through body bridges werent standard on Fenders until I think 2002 or so. I think mine's a '98 or '99, so the only option is to go through the body.
