Fender 9050M vs 9050ML - Fretless.

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm about to order a set of one these strings to put on a P/J Fretless Precision bass:

Fender 9050M (.55 - 105) or Fender 9050ML (.45 - 100)

Does anyone have any experience with A/B'ing these two sets?

Again, these are for fretless, so action will be someone on the lower side of things.

I'm used to using Labella Deep Talking Flats on a fretted P (the .45 - .109)

Does the tension and feel on those sets compare? How does the tone between the tow fenders compare?

Thanks for the help!

I use the Fender 9050ML set and the tension is very high, so you may want to start with them and see if that works. Putting anything heavier on a Jazz neck might be too much.

I have heard that 9050's are very thumpy in generally, the heavier the thumpier. On the other end of the flatwound spectrum compared to TIs.

The .55s would probably be crazy high tension, though.
