Fender 9120 Nylon Tapewound or Rotosound RS885LD Trubass Black Nylon for acoustic

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok so I just bought a Michael Kelly dragonfly fretless acoustic-electric 5 string bass. I want strings that will not damage the frets, and still sound amazing. The thing is that fender only makes their nylon tapewounds for four sting basses, so if i end up going with fender then I would have to buys Roto's 135 gauge string for the 5th string(if that woud even work?). Or should I should just go with the full set of Roto's? At the end of the day both options are the same price. I've just heard good things about the fender strings thats why i would go though the extra hassle, but have also heard a lot of good things about the Roto's. Please help me. Thank you!

There aren't any strings that would damage the frets on that.

Anyway, I think you are going to be stuck with whatever you can find in medium scale. I don't know of any tapes for 5vers in medium scale.

I know that they don't hurt the frets I was just saying the requirement for strings I wanted, and those were the two that I want to pick from.

In case you missed it. He was jokingly pointing out that you can't "damage the frets", as you said, on a fretless bass. The correct thing to say would be that you want strings that won't "damage the fingerboard". Anyway, Carvin sells a 5 string set of La Bella tapewound strings for cheap.

GHS has started making a five string set of Tapes. They are, I believe, medium-ish gauge (for a tapewound) of about .50-.125.
www.juststrings.com sells them for a good price.
