fender strings or daddario?

Sign in to disble this ad
so how is fenders tone compared to daddario? i mean fender superbass strings, the ones with black ends, cause the ones with red ends really suck IMO while the ones with black ends that come with MIMs are quite nice, but how are they when new? i want a bright tone with some growl, and daddario fits me ok, but i am looking to try fenders
normally i would just buy them but i have a major gig in 2 weeks and i need new strings, my current strings are dead
so what do you think

PS sorry for my english

I am not a fender fan of any sort but I have found their strings to be very very good.
The D'addario's are less money though

Having used both myself, I prefer the Fenders. The D'addario's are nice strings, I just like the sound and feel of the Fenders better.

Super basses ARE the ones with red ends.

What you want are these: http://www.fender.com/products//sear...tno=0737150005

Actually, Fender strings are as such;

7150's Gold wrap
7250's Black wrap
7350's Red wrap
9050's No silk wrap

Hope that helps. If you bought the 7250's in a store, or online, the wraps will be black.

Not bad at all-it seems that a lot of foreign made Fenders come with a red wrapped string, even though Fender's website will say the bass uses 7250's. My son's squier bronco is one example (I'll agree, the black wrapped 5250's-which are the short scale version of the 7250's-are a lot better IMHO/IME)

The red wrapped 7350's, which are stainless steel, are quite nice IMHO. I have the feeling though that the OP's bass isn't equipped with those, but a foreign version of the 7250. I could be wrong though.

I have used 7250 sets in both light and medium gauges, 4 and 5 strings sets. I have found their sound to really be good. They also last longer than the D'Addarios I have used. Very servicable strings.

Does anyone here have any experience playing the 7150's? I've played just about every other type of string except pure nickel roundwound it seems like... is the sound really different from nickel plated to pure nickel?

I could say something, but your ears would probably disagree with me.
