| I Just got an American Dlx Pbass.......it came with whatever twangy boingy bright snap-pop strings came on it (8250 taperwounds maybe). I had a set of med flats, hvy flats, nickle rounds 7120s and now 9120s on it.
They all fit through body and/or top load. the 7120s were WAY too relaxed for my feel. They sounded good enough, but the 9120s - are the Sch-Nizzle for me. I have them on my Jag, two SX's and had them on my Dlx Jazz. I have Chromes on teh Jazz and they are broken in, and right. They stay.
The 9120 is a better all around strin in my opinion. Last night, for the heck of it, I put the 7120s on my Dean EAB Acoustic bass - and they work well. I had to relax the truss all the way, but it plays well and they seem to translate batter to the Piezo. I will only be able ot play it plugged in, which is not a problem, because they are not loud on it.
Back to the Question - the Speaking length of the 7120 worked on the American Dlx Pbass - so if that length is the same as yours.......you should be good.
9120s are typically a shade cheaper, and I found that I like their smooth slick feel better than the cloth like feel of the 7120 on an electric bass. The Cloth feel on teh acoustic bass though...that is nice.
BTW - GREAT STRINGS If I didn't mention that. that was the whole drill with all those strings on the new AM Dlx P bass.......could not get a sound combination of Me, bass and string to work until I put on the 9120. And they make the Jag sound like it has buffalo testicles. |
