For the first time in ten years of playing, I bought the wrong strings.

Last night I finished up the wiring on a project bass that's been back burner for a loooong time. Having finally got it to being functional, I figured I would string it up for the first time and make sure all my knobs and switches were doing what they oughtta.

I started to string up my E and slowly it dawned on me that I had bought short scale strings. Dammit.

Always read the package carefully!

Ouch! I'd hate that to happen, but unfortunately something similar happened to me. I ordered a longscale set of strings for one of my basses. I put on the E string, went to put on the A and.... It was shortscale! D'OH!!
Thankfully the company I bought them from are sending me a replacement A string in longscale!

Ouch, indeed. Haha.

Read it a little more carefully next time, Duck.

B issues...

I bought some XL170's for my G&L L2500, the B string came up short had to string it over the bridge. Just bought some Chromes, Super Longs so I would not have the short B issue. The B string .132 is a friggin cable, the cloth winding at the ball end would not pull thru the body. Got it thru then the last 3 inches or so, the cloth gathered up and I could not pull it thru. Guess I coulda shaved the cloth down some but looked like the thick B string would not fit either way. Strung it over bridge, really had a hard time adjusting intonation. Do I need to buy a seperate B with each of these sets next time?
