fitting used strings

I am not too experienced at re-stringing (i've done it twice) it worked fine with new strings, but when i tried to re-use some strings i took off another bass i had a lot of trouble.

It was hard to get the right angle sticking it into the tuning peg hole and for the first wrap round the peg. Some of them were a bit short, but i broke one and had to re-fit an old string (which should have been perfect length) and that was still a bit tricky.

Anyone got any tips on re-using strings, most of the instructions i've found only mention new ones.

There shouldnt be too much difference as long as the strings are long enough. When I say long enough I dont mean just long enough, I mean a couple of extra wraps or at the very least one full wrap round the post. You may be struggling a bit if they are border line short (eg-half a wrap), but it still should be possible.

If you find it hard to get the bit which has been previously bent where it should be, you should be fine to gently straighten it (with pliers if necessary).
