Flat or round?

Sign in to disble this ad
Few weeks ago i bought a new "used" bass, the strings sound strange... i wonder if they are Flat wound (i can't tell becouse i have only played a bass with flats once before)
Is there anything i can do to find out if the strings are Flat og round?

Flatir eru í raun miklu múkri og þú finnur ekki fyrir efninu í raun diddi minn.

round eru miklu grófari.

do they feel very very smooth to the touch?, if so, theyre flats

do they feel bumpy like theyve been wrapped with round wire?, if so, theyre rounds.

As the person before me said if they feel completely smooth then they're flats if not then rounds. Also on flatwound strings the thinner strings (D,G) will look almost as if they are made of one long piece of wire. Also the strings will be very shiny looking
