Question

I was wondering if anyone uses flat wounds on a five string bass? I can't seem to find a standard set of flat wounds for a five. I can always custom order them but sets usually cost less. Is their a reason that I am not aware of?

Lightbulb Yes there are flatwounds for 5 strings

My main axe is a 5 string, a Carvin LB75, and I alternate between LaBella flatwounds and LaBella black tape wounds. I obtain mine through Carvin. The tape wounds are brighter but I like the deep boom that regular flatwounds can give. I believe D'Addairo also makes a flatwound set for 5 strings.

Dude! Welcome to T/B

Check here ~ Flatwound strings on a 5 String ?

...or here ~ http://www.juststrings.com

LaBella also makes 5 (and even 6) string Nylon Tapewound sets.
Rotosound makes a 5-string (flatwound) Tapewound set for a serious THUNK

Herm (the Strings forum moderator) also sells strings.
He's currently havin' a "blow-out" clearance sale.
