Question Flat Wounds for an Ibanez Metal Addict

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew what flats would sound best on a 5 string SoundGear, a SG 645. It's got a 2-band eq, so the tonal shaping is limited, if that means anything at all. I know Roto makes rather bright flats. I'm also planning on using a pick with them, so if they sound at all like rounds that'd be great.

Thanks.

Why not just get rounds instead?

Ahh...hmm, well, I don't know much about flats, but being a Steve Harris fan, I'll suggest Steve Harris's sig roto flats

Don't use any kind of Rotos on an SR series Ibby. They are very stiff strings and you may not be able to get it adjusted to your liking. Try GHS Bright flats. They aren't as stiff and they will give you the sound you are looking for. D'Addario Chromes in 45-100 guage will work fine for that bass too.
