Flats to complement the nature of a Lakland Darryl Jones

Sign in to disble this ad
it's the old passive DJ with Aeros. and a rosewood fretboard...

I know it's a modern sounding bass, but I really want to try some flats on it. Not necessarily for the vintage sound, I'm looking for a full sound that flats are known to deliver.

So, which flats would you put on a DJ to complement its nature?

Flats for Lakland

I have owned Glaub, JO4/5, 44-02, and Dunn Skylines and had Thomastik-Infeld JF-344/345 Jazz Flats as appropriate on each one and was never disappointed and loved the sound. I would give them a try. Also Lakland has Flatwound strings that are very nice sounding but I still like the TI-Jazz flats better personally.

Chromes or Sadowsky flats complement a modern jazz bass well, too.

I like the DJ for its in your face aggressivity and growl- to get the most out of it I'd slap Sadowskys on it if I really wanted to use flats on this bass.

I bought them from a US ebay store. Do a search and see what comes up.
