I'm looking for a full sound, more to the mid-lows, nothing too high or twangy. I also don't want a very floppy string, and something that won't be too muddy.
Anybody recommend what I should use, I love my BTB but find that my sound is way too twangy for my taste.
So far I've used EB slinky's which are great but I'd love to try something new.
Your thoughts and recommendations on what string I should choose would be great. |
Not knowing whether you prefer stainless steels or nickels, or what sort of music you play, makes this a little like flying in the dark. But on the basis of your tone preferences, I'd say the DRs are worth your consideration. Even if you try 'em and don't like 'em, you're out only about $25 or so. Consider it an investment in the ongoing cultivation of your discriminating ear...
Since you want "nothing too high or twangy", I'm guessing nickels might work for you better than steels. And since you "don't want a very floppy string", something with a hexagonal core, as opposed to a round core, would have more stiffness.
That leaves DR Nickel Lo-Riders. So try 'em and see if you like 'em.
For flats, I couldn't advise you. I pretty much never play them...
