Flats for a G&L L-2500?

I still have the stock strings on it, and they're very nice but the bass is bright and aggressive. I'm going to be playing electric in a college jazz band so I think I should get some flats to tame the bass a little. What flats are you using on this bass, and what gauges?

I use D'adario (or however you spell it ) chrome flats on my L2K and its like a different bass I love it. Im not sure if these come in a 5 set but its defenitally worth checking out. These are the only flats Ive ever tried that I enjoy slapping the **** out of. They work really well with the electronics of the bass.
I know the E guage is 105 not sure about the others. I havent changed these strings in almost a year already and they are better than ever. The tension is a little higher than normal rounds but I find it very comfortable. Im sure they would sound awesome on the low B but then again its just my opinion.

Chromes are very good and TI Jazz Flats are GREAT in my humble opinion. I have a fretless L-2500 and have tried both.

The TI Jazz flats have been on the bass for 5 or 6 months and they still sound like butter.

You can't go wrong with either choice, but if I had to pick one . . . TI Jazz flats!

I had Chromes on mine for a while and they were great. I used it for reggae with great results for example. I did have an issue with string through body though with those--had to go through just the bridge 'cause the B wouldn't fit through the ferrule. Sounded fine though--not sure it makes much difference frankly.
If you want to stay with rounds but want something nicer and less brittle than those stock strings try DR Nickel Lo-Riders. Very versatile--I can get very mellow with my L2.5K with them. I have the pickups lowered way down too--you may want to consider that.

It's nylon and not metal flats but I'd go La Bella Black Nylon, really sounds awesome on a L2.5K

But the sound is clearly sharper on the low-end and sweeter on the higher-end so it's first a matter of taste

I have used both (TI Jazz Flats, and D'Addario chromes) on my L2500 fretless, and I liked them both. Chromes are stiffer and brighter, TI's are much thicker sounding, and lower tension. I also remember having trouble stringing the "B" strings through body. You will need the Extra Long scale Chromes to string through body.

I once had a Tribute L2500 fretted that I used Chromes on, and I was very happy with them, much brighter than you would think out of flats.

Overall, I perfer the tone of the TI Jazz Flats. Clear yet very thick. The low tension took a while to adjust to, but now I love them. Using TI's might require a higher quality amp than the D'Addarios.

IMO
