Flats on the Jazz, Rounds on the Precision

So yesterday I figured I'd do some string swapping. I took the GHS Precision flatwounds off of my SX P-bass and put them on my MIM Jazz, and a brand new set of GHS Bass Boomer roundwounds on the P-bass. As far as the flats on the Jazz, I've never been happier with the tone coming from my Jazz bass. Ironically, there's a top end snap with the GHS flats that wasn't present all these years with different brands and types of roundwound strings. With the GHS Boomers on the P-Bass, I'm able to get that tasty Precision mid-range bark that I wasn't able to get with the GHS flats. I guess this particular bass just didn't get along with that particular brand of flatwound. In the future I'll try different brands of flats to see what I come up with.

I know most of you would go the other way around- flats on the P-bass and rounds on the J-bass, but for right now I'm enjoying the heck out of this!

You know, you will eventually end up with four basses.

I'm also enjoying flats on J and rounds on a P. I like it!

Four basses. That's a good idea.

Many like the combination you state. I have flats on two jazz basses and rounds on one P and one J.
