Flats in an LEJ5?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone ever put flats their Low End Jazz 5 string?

What brand fits well?

The bass is through body, do I need to pick out something specific? I recall threads about strings breaking at the bend, and at ~$10 a pop, I don't want to do that.

I have TI Flats in my Sadowsky which has a similar tone to my ears as the LEJ5 and I really love them. Awesome fingerstyle and pickstyle tone. I had my 2nd gig with the TI's on last night, and got a lot of compliments on the great tone. I also sat in the audience for while another dude played my bass, and I must say it did sound really great. Through my Iamp 800 and Aggie gs 112 the tone was forward and present with amazing midrange but without zingy highs, fretnoise, or midrange honk. I have been really pleased with these sofar.
I do want to try Chromes though!
