Flats on my Fender Jazz or Skyline Glaub?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've recently purchased a brand new MIA Fender Jazz deluxe and a Lakland skyline Glaub and they are both due for a string change. I've never played with flats and since spending some time here on TB I must say I'm tempted on puting a set on one of my two basses. I play bar band stuff. Rock, blues, funk and I play through an Ampeg BA500.

So which one gets them?

Jazz. I prefer my flats on a Jazz over a P any day. I know it seems wierd, but you just can't beat that Joe Osborn thump, IMO.

Hmm, only one response. Thanks, BTW. Any more advice for a guy who's never used flats?

Active jazz with Samarium noiseless or P with Fralins ?

Oooh, didn't realize it was a Deluxe...

In THIS case, I'd have to recommend flats on the Glaub. I think the more modern electronics might not be the best fit for that vintage vibe.
