Flats for my Jaguar

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking to put flats on my Jaguar. I play through a B-200R which as you all know has a nice warm vintage tone. It's because of this I'm looking for somewhat of a bright flatwound with a smooth feel and fairly light tension. I've heard the Sadowsky flats on Basstasters and it seems to be the sound I'm looking for. Are there any other brands that compare to these that I should look into?

Thanks

After trying several brands of flats, D'Addario Chromes are what ring my bell... All of my basses wear them to good effect, including my Jag... To my ears, they stay bright enough after the typical 'mellowing' period and just get better sounding...

YMMV

D'Addario Chromes are great... they are somewhat bright sounding and the tension isn't all that high.

Sadowskys are my choice over Chromes on a Jazz, or the Jag which is very Jazz like.

Chromes are a bit brighter in the high mids but the Sads have more 'attitude' for want of a better description.

Sadowskys and Chromes it is. I'm going to try both these and see which one suits my set up better.

GHS Light Brites=standard 45-105 tension and require no intonation tweaks.
