Hello,
Im switching over to flats for the country band im in now. Im planning on getting a set this week. I was planning on getting Sadowsky flats but the reviews ive read havent been great. ive heard good things about DR HI Beam flats and the LaBella DT flats seem to be a favorite around here. What do you think?

Sadowsky flats are the most excellent flats I have come accross.

I tried Fenders, TI, Labella, Chromes and Sads are on the top of my list.

If you want the thump now and dont want to wait for mellowing out, get Fenders, they are dead from the box.

Chromes are the most clackier.

Sadowsky and LaBellas are happy tone medium with LaBellas being a bit thumpier and Sads clearer but still smooth.

I can't imagine a better set of flats for that bass to retain the unique Sadowsky tone with a set of traditionally voiced flats.

I love Labellas but they sucked some of that tone from a Sadowsky RV5 I owned for a while, whose previous owner put them on. I put rounds on afterwards, never tried it with the Sadowsky flats, but I can imagine the extra aggressiveness and less thump would sound so sweet on a UV.

They might not be everyone's cup of tea (no string is,of course) but they are an amazingly versatile and great sounding and paying flatwound string set.

The only negative reviews I've heard involved the B string, not an issue for me as I've never connected with a fiver.
