--Silvie | The reason I reccommend D'Addario Tapes so strongly is because they are standard-gauge 50-105. That way, people who just want to give tapewounds a try don't have to alter the nut at all.
To each their own!

| | | | I was joking....partly. My jazz teacher in high school 20 years ago had me try flats once. At the time I didn't even know they still made them. Had heard of them but that's as far as my knowledge went. Put 'em on and completely didn't expect the sound that came out of the amp. Deader than death itself. Now, I'm sure they have their place and many, many people prefer them and actually like them, I was just reading through this thread and it brought back all these bad memories of that fateful day. |

| | | | To the OP: I would recommend Pyramids.
Delicious feel, mellow '60s sound, less mid-forward than TI's, less thunky than Jamersons. Just all-round sweet. My faves. |

I have them on a fretless p and they are a dream to play on and the tone is mellos but quite nice. You definitely want to avoid rotosound 77s even though I love them and swear by them because they are the opposite of what you are looking for.
