Has it been done? Does it work? Is it madness or the wave of the future?

What was old is new again...

I've noticed more and more guys my age (40) going back to flats for that old-school sound. All of my basses have flats now - I even replaced the Pressurewounds on my 4001 with 9050MLs.

Ricks and flats belong together.

As I cuddled the porcupine he said I had none to blame, but me.

ive got Pyramid flats on my 4003 and they sound great..very low end thump i get from this set up and a pinch growl if i play near the bridge... Also get a good upright tone if i pluck up on the neck. Ive also used TI flats 43-100 on my 4003 and that had a nice tone too however they just didnt put out the lows/thump i wanted on my the 4003 but the TI flats sound great on my 3001. One thing ive noticed though is that my ricks dont seem to like heavy guage strings though so i try to stick to a 45-105 guage tops on them..i also just ordered some tapewounds for my new warwick thumb ive givin up all together on roundwounds eeewww!
