Flats on Sadowsky Modern 24

Sign in to disble this ad
I am curious if anyone has tried flats on a Sadowsky Modern 24. I have searched around, but can't seem to find if this was ever addressed. I would love to hear some feedback.

I had some TI Jazz Flats on my M5-24 and absolutely loved the tone, especially with the neck pickup favored slightly. It was like a cleaner Pbass thump with a B string. Slap sound is not so hot, but on my list of ultimate fingerstyle tone.

Yeah I heard that TI Flats suits the M5-24 nicely. Can you describe the tone with the TI Flats ?

Cheers

I've had two 5-24 and had them almost exclusively strung with flats.

This bass is so bright that I felt it really needed flats.

I didn't like TI in them; they are too dull, and the low tension can definitely be a problem. I have a love/hate relationship with TIs. Have used them on and off for years, but I think they are just too dull, and you end up missing too much of the character of the bass.

So, my experimentation took me to Sadowsky flats light gauge. Ultra high quality, they last a long time in good shape, the have a bit more tension than TIs, but still very flexible but most standards - the perfect tension for me. And my favorite part is that they are bright enough to slap effectively on the 5-24.

I'm also familiar with other flats, like Fender, EB, D'Addario, and I have to say Sadowsky flats as by far my favorites.

I thought that Flats on the Modern was one of the best fingerstyle tones I"ve had live. Tons of thick lowmids that sit perfectly in a mix and an ultra smooth hi-end.

Will be the tone becomes dull if you put the flats into the sadowsky? Which flats brand did you try for the sadowsky?
How about for the slap tone?

I'm so glad I found this thread. Today I just received a new Sad 24F4 the new four string model standard. I love Sadowsky flats and was pleased to read that some of you guys liked them on the Modern 24. I really didn't expect this but I'm sure going to try some. I do happen to have at least one set of Med. 105 so that's even cooler.
