Is the popularity of flats the string producers worst nightmare? After years of changing strings every week, many bass players now have the same set of flats on forever. |

And they normally charge way more for flats, over here in NZ they do anyway.

Rounds players don't change out strings every week - if they did you'd likely see prices drop. Economies of scale don'tcha know...

They're not really popular anyway. You have to seriously look around or shop online to find them.
And after a while, they catch a crappy intonation like all used strings. |

I gig out on rounds three to four times a week on average and I change my strings twice, maybe three times, a year on average. You guys must blow WAY too much money on strings.

And, yes, I am regularly gigging.
I have worked in the retail and wholesale music industry for about 17 years or so, and it's my observation that rounds outsell flats 10:1 or more. |
