I hear there's a new Steak Simulator pedal that makes your dirt taste like steak!

The honest answer is neither. But if you insist, tapes.

spambot is funny.... i say stuff like that to our friend we know as 'dillic' all the time... dillic stands for 'do i look like i care'... he a chillin rasta

id say my jazz plus w la bella 760 sounds woody and thumpy as any bass ive heard...but prolly not upright... so more like a wet muddy sandy steak

also check out dexplosion's posts on this site for sound clips which are very good on a p bass with all the diff types of strings

Probably tapes but I like the sound of flats better.

Also, I prefer dirty pork to dirty steak. But.....with sand I'd prefer the pork. Steak is much more suited to dirt.

aah...upright tone. Don't forget the foam mute.

I play Trubass88s on my JazzV and find it's very very fat. Gristly.

Totally different beast with the mute. Especially with Envelope Phaser and OC-2.

I just took a set of tapes off my Jazz and replaced them with Fender 9050 stainless flats. I like the flats much better!

I think Labella tapes can cop some of the vibe of an upright (everything is relative, of course), maybe more than flats.

I like the tone of Jamersons on a P, picked, ahead of the PUP. Surprisingly upright-like, moreso than fingerstyle, if you can get a good flattish clean tone from your amp.
