flats vs. rounds: which produce deeper bass frequencies ?

I love getting a modern, deep, low end sometimes, for hiphop, r&b etc.
I've always used rounds for this kind of stuff,
do flats go as deep?(frequency-wise)
or do they get muddy ?

They both have the exact same fundamental frequencies. Neither one "goes deeper" than the other--it's impossible. Rounds have a lot more upper harmonic content, but that doesn't change their fundamental. "Muddy" is another story. Maybe you're asking which one hits those fundamentals with the most clear, articulate tone? That's a good question, one that I don't have an answer for.

You can EQ any kind of string to be as deep as you want, or not be deep at all. Flats or rounds...doesn't matter.
