flatwound choice question

new member ......not sure what string to try I play a fender 64 jazz re issue ,traynor db 800 h ,Ampeg single 15 cab ive been trying out Thomas Infeld Vienna flatwounds .100,.070,.056,.043 before stock fender rounds stock strings hated the fretty metal on metal type of sound hence the change i love the smooth feel midier warmer tone i feel like i have sacrificed bottom end depth though could it be my gauge of string i love the old school sounds of like Bob segars bass player like the sounds and tones in the song Her Strut i play classic rock is my gear capable of this type of sound with a different string ???thx in advance....

Listened to that song just now. I would suggest La Bella flats. The flats sound of the 60s and 70s was La Bella or Fender flats. Now that Fender has changed its flats, La Bella is the one.

I would try the 760FL (43-104) or 760FS (45-105) set. Both will get you there.
