Today I bought a set of rounds that were too short for my bass. They're D'Addario XL nickel rounds, Long scale, 5 string (though you could pass the 5th one on if you didn't need it) gauged .45 - .130. I left the strings at my drummer's house (will be back Friday) and I've absolutely never mailed anything in my life (product of the modern age) but if you'd like, I'll try and figure it out for whoever's interested.

EDIT: If I do end up passing these strings along, purpletornado has snagged them up.

I like this idea actually. I, myself, am well on my way to "string test hell" and have spent a small lump of over $100 trying to "see which one I like". I'm currently wanting to test out GHS flats but my bass is being repainted at the moment. However, I do have a set of the new Fender 9050L (.045-.100) flats dangling from my P-bass bridge.

If anything, I'd love to pitch in on this idea and lend someone the flats for those who are: a) curious to test and would "pay it forward" in the future, but that's of course after obtaining another set of strings. b) someone who is broke or low on funds, needs some flats, and when they have acquired a set of their own, again, "pay it forward".

But hell, this is your idea, who am I to chime in? Then again, what I said above is what I would want someone to do that would be receiving my flats. Would be cool to have the same set of flats make its way across the country (or world) for other TB'ers to test and ship - but that's just the hopeless romantic inside of me...

Anyways, anyone wanting to tryout the "New" Fender flatwounds (9050Ls .045-.100) shoot me a PM. I personally think they're great, but be warned, these flats still need a bit (or a lot) of breaking in to do.

I'd love to check those out if you're willing. If you want, PM me and we can discuss the details.

PBnJ, you nailed the while idea of this thread in your post. The concept is to make it easier and less expensive to try flats. GC barely carries any and I live in a large metro area. Lots of web sites carry many different brands, but buying strings online is kind of like buying shoes online.

Patrick I hope you can find a set of 6-string flats!

LaBella DTB 760FM or FS wanted

Hi Folks,
I'm willing to trade a very slightly used set of 4 Thomastik JF344 to get a set of similarly lightly used LaBella's for my standard scale fretless.

Thought I'd give the jazz flats a try and I want more thump.

Thanks in advance.

Bill
