Question Flatwound recommendations please...

Hi everybody. Beginner player here. I was researching flatwounds online for my P-Bass. I ended up getting a pair of the la bella deep talking ones. The E-String is a little tough for me to handle right now though. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any flatwounds that might be easier to play, but will still give me that deep bass butter?

Yeah the TI flats are probably what you want:

How is your bass setup? Maybe you can lower the action of the E string to make it easier to play?

I'll tell you, I got it straight from the factory (Supposedly). Its an MIM. But the saddles look like they are kinda messed up and I dont know how to adjust them. I'm about to make another post about this...

Can you tell if the E string is too high from that?

I'm assuming the G string's saddle is not supposed to be like that too?

Just take a small screwdriver and you can raise or lower the saddles any way you like, raising or lowering your action, adjusting the curve of the strings to match your fretboard, etc.

That action looks pretty high from the photos. Lower the saddles as above, and make sure they are level. You will have to adjust your intonation afterwards. Tips on how-to on the Fender website or Gary Willis' set-up guide.

While you're at it, you can raise or lower your pickups once you have found your preferred action, for the best tone for your ears and even response string to string..

Try the Labella Deep Talking 760FX flatwounds , they are gauged 39 56 77 96 so should be nice and low tension

The looks of that G saddle has me wonder if there aren't other problems with the setup. Even if all else is nominal, the factory default setup might not be right for you.

There are stickies & links onsite that'll guide you through at least checking your setup, if not doing it yourself.

I used TI Flats. Tried Chromes. I'm waiting for a set of TI's in the mail.
