Also the nylon tape is colored black so the whole string is black (though I've seen other colors of nylon such as red on older strings from different manufacturers.)
The smoothest flats I've ever played are LaBella 760 stainless. |

| | | | Lakland Joe Osborn flats have Black silk... don't know of any others.
Happen to be my favorite flats, on a US JO (of course...) |

By bright, do you mean trebley or with a crisp high end? People often get them confused.
Also the Jamerson signature set has a pale blue wrap on the end.

I'd suggest trying some different flatwound basses or getting some clips.
I get plenty of treble growl, at least for my taste, on a Fender P strung with LaBella Jamerson signatures.
What kind of bass are you running this through?

I only use Chromes, I love them! You can get trebly, but they're better at old school sounds. |

I don't recall what gauge off hand.
They did boogie oogie oogie, you probably know the song, but give it a listen.

While the string type is obviously an important factor so is the age and how long they have been on. So even if you got new ones wont it take a while before it starts sounding right?
