I've been thinking about putting flatwound strings on my Carvin BB75. I was originally interested in the TI jazz flats because of all the positive comments, but I understand they have very light tension.
I currently have Elixir Nanoweb .45-.125 strings installed, and would like a set with a little more tension on the B string (less floppy).
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Pretty high tension strings, plus they sound great.

I don't know about tension because I can't tell any differences between strings - but the Labellas are great! |

billm | I use T.I. flats on my Carvin Bolt. The tension is lower than many others but there's nothing "floppy" about them. |

Took a trip to my local GC (an hour drive one way) and they didn't have any 5 string flats, so I ended up searching online and found the TI Jazz flats 5 string set for $55 and decided to give them a try. Now to decide which of the remaining 3 to try on my Warmouth 4.

I figure the sustain is pretty much gone at this point. For an upright-ish thump, this is great. The TI Flats are excellent strings with a very long life. Wipe them down after playing, and they last even longer.
I had a fresh set of DA Chrome Flats in 45~100, so I put those on the MIM fretless. Nice mwah, good feel, and bright enough to sound like a J, without being harsh.
If I put flats back on my fretted P, I will probably try the LaBella Deep Talkin Flats. |

A note:
Don't EVER evaluate flatwound strings based on how they sound in the first 30 to 60 days they're on the instrument. Flats need to age and settle in. By the time they're a year old, they're sounding the way they should. |
