I am looking to get a "round", warm vintage sound.
What would get me the warmest round vintage sound, tapewound or flatwound strings?
I currently play a Schecter 5 string with Roto Tape wounds, Ampeg V4 through a 2 x 12 EBS Neo.
I like the sound but it tends to be a little mid heavy for my taste. I have the Mid on both the amp and eq on bass almost all the way down.
Thanks,

D'addario Chromes and Labellas are too good choices.

| | | | I've only tried la bella and rotosound tapes, and I found the la bellas very very roundwound sounding - not much double-bass style low end. The rotos were much more thumpy, with less sustain and a more percussive sound. |

Excited when I go into it, and initially completely love the tone, then once they start really breaking in I find that i've lost the tone I like. But completely understand others loving it.
To me:
Tapewounds are smoother and more of an acoustic or upright type sound or vibe.
TI's and Chrome flats retain the most clarity, then the others follow after that.
