flatwound v roundwound on Lakland JO

Just wanted to say the difference between some old Fender flatwounds and some new La Bella Deep Talking stainless steel roundwounds on a Lakland Joe Osborn is HUGE.

My duo partner nearly got blown off the stage with the flatwounds. That is the biggest sound I have ever had out of my collection of basses. But then the G-string broke at the tuning peg end (probably because I bent it a few times in the same spot) so I swapped them out for some new La Bella roundwounds.

I must say I am disappointed with the La Bellas and am now awaiting a new set of flatwounds, this time GHS. So once I have them on the Lakland, will do another post. In the meantime, the La Bellas will be tried on another bass, most likely the MIM Geddy Lee.
