I recently got a P bass copy (peavey fury), and it is in serious need of some flats. I know TI flats are supposedly the holy grail, but is there anything that i can get at normal string prices ~25, that are quality? |

True the first set I ordered arrived with a damaged/broken outer wrap on the E string. However, I emailed webstrings with a photo of the problem and they sent a new set with no hassle what so ever.
I strung 'em up on my Squier VM Jazz and WOW! They look and feel a lot like my DR Flats and the sound is incredible! And For under 20 bucks with shipping! (Detroit Bass SS flat wound .45 - .105)
Another string/option is The Perfect Bass. Deals For TB'ers @ The Perfect Bass!!!
I just ordered a set of D'Addario half rounds (I know, not really flats...) and they were around 25 dollars with shipping and the Talk Bass discount. The next set from them may be D'Addario Chromes....
Lot's of options for not a lot of dough.....

Most of today's string labels have one of these string factories manufacture strings for them and they simply put their label on them.
-AND- A Better Way: Webstrings contracts the same manufacturers that the most popular labels use for their strings. That's right they're the same high quality American made strings. So you see, there's a good chance that your favorite strings are exactly what we're selling! And if not you may find that Webstrings are of better quality and so much more affordable that you'll never go back to the old stuff!
-AND- As we said earlier, the Internet has changed everything. According to the pre-Internet business model the consumer absorbed all the costs involved with success. In today's business model success can be achieved in a much more cost effective way with an emphasis on true savings passed on directly to the consumer.
It is a 20 dollar experiment....

And they are listed as Made in the USA, there can't be that many companies that make strings....

They are good strings, with good thump, a decent top end for flats, and they feel very balanced with out too much tension. Roto's and LaBellas are too high tension for my liking. TI's are the Holy Grail though. |

True, they are good strings, but they are particularly low tension for flatwound strings, and the E and B strings, at least, have a fairly rough feel to them due to the way they are wound.
I like TI Jazz Flats, but I also like D'Addario Chromes, and Rotosound Jazz 77's. Those are my three favorite strings, since D'Addario doesn't make Reds anymore...

Chromes....Fender 9120 black nylon tapes and Webstrings Flats.
All perform well, feel great and have "THAT" feel and sound.
I have Nickle Rounds on the other two, and they are also Webstrings.
I do not like the daddario 170's....personal pref. they sound good on other peoles stuff.
my flats have all been on about a year, or more. The 9120's are going on 3 years.
YMMV
I did not find the webstrings to be lacking one bit, and felt NOTHING like sandpaper. BTW |

My Audere/Ultra J equipped Bacchus J-Bass clone is sporting a set of 9050's (the store was out of Chromes) and it sounds great. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
