Have there been rock bands where the bassist used flatwound strings? I would love to hear some and how well/bad it sits in the mix.

Oh wait...
Edit: Beaten to the punch again.

My query was due to never using a set of flatwounds myself, I had no idea how to determine which was a flatwound recording and which wasn't.

Iron Maiden's bassist, Steve Harris, is one of the greatest metal bass players and he used Flatwounds on his Fender Precision (alongside his style, he created that "machine gun" like bass sound). |

Another question: Are there stainless steel or other 100%-non-nickel flatwounds in existence? Unfortunately, I'm allergic to nickel.
