Flatwounds - Shortscale - Tension

Yo dudes.

So yesterday I bring my new SX shortie J to my local luthier. She recommended I buy some higher tension strings before she proceed with the setup as the E is too floppy. Its a .100. She recommended 105 and up.

My fave flats are Chromes and Labellas. The weird thing is that the chromes have gages that would seem to suffer the same floppyness due to lighter gage than is required.

chromes ss:

I have Fender stainless steel 9050's flats on my SX short scale Jazz.
It sounds and plays great >>>>>>>>>.
.045 .060 .080 .095

They are pretty stiff strings and it is not just the gauge
of a string that makes it stiff or more flexible.

Hey I have that same bass... and it turns out I think I have those same strings lying around somewhere. I'll give 'em a try.

I have a set of D'Addario Short Scale Half Rounds on my SX Jazz Shorty Fretless. They sound pretty good. I have been thinking about a short scale set of Chromes for the bass.
