Frequently changing string types damaging to bass?

I own one bass (Lakland Joe Osborn vintage jazz style), but I can't decide on whether to stay with flats or rounds. With both my bands (one is rock with soul influence and the other chicago blues) I love using flats. They sound and play great for both bands. But when I practice at home I want to play some slap style stuff and prefer rounds for the their tone in general. I use D'Addario Chromes and DR Fat Beams both in similar gauges. When I first changed over from Fat Beams to Chromes, the bass really didn't need a truss rod adjustment. Thus, is it okay to frequently go back and forth between string types? By frequently I mean once or twice a week. I'd love to know if others do this as well.

Please no "buy a second bass" responses. As if that hasn't crossed my mind.

I use the DR Black Beauties coated strings. They have the pop like Rounds and feel like rounds. I don't think it will hurt, but it eventually may start wearing on the truss rod. Dunno?

Wearing down mechanical parts may be a problem though. In my case frequent swapping of strings totally destroyed my bridge saddles' screws, for some reason the screws got stripped even though I used the right size. Will need a new set somewhere down the road... Just a word of caution.

If you adjust neither truss rod nor bridge, I don't see a problem. The strings themselves may suffer from metal fatigue sometime and break if you keep using the same sets (and I don't suppose you buy y new set each week so this may also become a problem)

Damaging to strings much sooner than the bass I would think! I go back and forth between rounds/flats and light/heavy gauges without much trouble, always making sure to remove strings carefully so the ends won't scratch the finish. And I do have to adjust the truss rod when changing to or from heavy gauge strings.

changing strings often can be hard on plastic nuts and soft tuners.

Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.

I've changed strings so many, many times on the only bass I have that I lost count. I've tried virually every string type and gauge available. It never hurt my cheap Ibby GSR200EX. Adjusting the trussrod, setting action and intonation are all part of it. If you use the right tools and don't force anything, frequently swapping strings shouldn't be a problem at all.

As long as you properly adjust and set the bass up, it shouldn't be a problem unless the tuners and bridge are of lower quality, which Laklands are not.
